Dr. Lawrence Lucas on space shuttle March 30 Huntsville, AL - CSC Director Picked As One Who Will Shape The 21st Century - The Sunday Times of London has selected Dr. Lawrence DeLucas, Director of the Center for Macromolecular Crystallography, as one of the scientists whose work will help shape the 21st century. With the help of leading scientists, the author of the article selected 18 scientists in different fields who are expected to make significant contributions to the world.

Dr. DeLucas was selected because of his work in protein crystallography and for being "a leading expert in viruses and bacteria." The article goes on to state that his work on the International Space Station will help advance treatments for a range of diseases and cites his efforts at growing protein crystals in microgravity.
